Start / Sit FAQ
How are start/sit recommendations made?
Recommendations combine FantasyPros consensus rankings, defensive matchup grades (how many fantasy points the opposing team allows at each position), and positional depth chart data. Players get a START, FLEX, or SIT label based on their projected ceiling vs. their alternatives.
What does a matchup grade mean for start/sit decisions?
A matchup grade reflects how many fantasy points a defense allows to that position relative to league average. An A grade means the defense allows significantly more than average — a great week to start your WRs or RBs facing them. An F means elite defense — consider sitting players even with good talent.
Should I always start my best player regardless of matchup?
In most cases, yes — talent beats matchup. But at TE and K, matchup matters more because the talent pool is thin. A mediocre TE against an A-grade defense often outperforms a good TE against an F defense.
When is the best time to check start/sit advice?
Check Tuesday for initial recommendations after waivers clear, then again Thursday morning to account for injury reports and any late depth-chart changes. Never finalize your lineup before Friday's injury report.
